Introduction

As you can read in the "About Me" section on the right, my name is Kate Carlson. I am 30 years old...yet quickly approaching 31--which I have concluded is even worse than being 30...as bummed as I was about turning 30 last year, at least it's a "milestone" birthday and a great reason to have a celebration with family and friends. Thirty-one will mean I am officially in my 30s...not just "testing the waters" there! :)

I have been teaching high school business for 8 years. I cannot believe that I am starting my 9th year of teaching...especially since there are still times in which I still feel like a rookie...where has the time gone?? I've spent my entire teaching career in Valley, Nebraska--my first four years were at Valley High School...then we merged with Waterloo in 2005 so I've now added four years with Douglas County West. I also sponsor FBLA, Student Council and the cheerleaders (I, along with a colleague/friend said "yes" to the cheer job in a moment of weakness...and I believe it's the kind of job that once they get you to take it, it's yours for life!)

I have been married for nearly 5 years to my husband, Mike. We have a 3-year-old daughter, McKenzie, who just started preschool...much to my strong objection that is even possible that my little girl is old enough to be in school! She is such a smarty pants...she is reading books already! She amazes me all the time. I am also expecting our second child. Our baby boy is due January 3...a new year's baby...though I'm hoping more for a "tax deduction" baby!

I am looking forward to this course...I am always on the lookout for more ways to incorporate technology in my classes...using both self-created and existing resources!
